I’m opening a connection-led pousada, or boutique inn, in Paraty, Brazil in the upcoming months. During this opening prep, I’ll be sending casual updates into the process, alongside some of my regular brand strategy dispatches.
Hello hello! Here’s a new dispatch into what I’ve been up to this week in pousada planning, in case it’s interesting to you!
In this week’s, I cover:
Naming the pousada. We have a name! I will not be sharing it just yet though :)
Moving forward on visual identity + interiors
Checking out accounting and reservations systems. Super thrilling.
Thinking about wifi and the unfortunate fact I have to support a certain man in tech
If you’re looking for excitement, it’s not necessarily here. If you’re looking for some granular details into all the behind the scenes, you can watch this 6 minute check-in (com legendas em português):
Just for fun, here are some brand bits and bobs:
Love the branding for drinks startup Agua Bonita, which I came across on WeFunder. WeFunder is a great source for finding out about new companies that are trying to grow.
Love this piece on the rise of thrift stores and how it’s causing big fashion brands to add some element of resale into their businesses. More circular fashion, please!
I somehow got on “positivity instagram” via my algorithm and I’m loving this side of the gram. My faves are Uncle Pappy, Today I am grateful for, We love you, David Larbi, and Troy Hawke.
All this talk about “taste” as a competitive advantage, when in my opinion they’re just talking about the importance of… Brand! “So how do they compete? On how they look, feel, and how they make users feel” → I always believe a good brand = resonance with your customers.
