O Portalzinho turns 2 months old! Here's everything I've learned so far
Ok, not everything, but you don't need to hear about water tanks
I honestly can’t believe it when I write that O Portalzinho, my 9-room pousada in Paraty, Brazil, has been open 2 months already. It makes me pretty emotional. Making a dream a reality and getting to live it every day is a privilege I don’t take for granted, even when I’m complaining about exhaustion (which is often, just ask Carlos).
Exhausted but fulfilled is my main state of being these days. Thank you so much for all the supportive messages along this journey!
From now through June 30th is our soft opening, so we’re basically focused on learning how to run a pousada once guests are actually here, trying to nail basic operations and figuring out how to do accounting in bureaucratic Brazil, so that we can start to introduce more fun ideas and creative programming soon.
Here’s a video if you’d like to see the main learnings so far, including:
Sifting through feedback
How our first sold out weekend went
My phone addiction
Finding time for big picture thinking
Hiring a supportive team
Breakfast... not that bad
Non-existent self-care
Marketing in the long run
I post way more on Instagram stories these days, so feel free to give a follow over there:
And come visit!! xx
Rooting you on!!!!!
