Happy Friday Tuesday!
I owe a big update here on career stuff, but until I get that together, I thought I’d send out this lil edition. I haven’t sent one of these in awhile, so I’m going to do a mega update of what I’ve been enjoying in the past month or so, broken down by category.
5 things I loved this week month-ish:
Movies: The original Twister; The Faculty, a teen movie I had seen some parts of endless times on TV in the late 90s; The Teacher’s Lounge, which made me confident in choosing to never pursue education as a career path; Up Close & Personal, which delighted me with a Celine Dion hit midway through; Civil War because I love Kirsten Dunst and support more Wagner Moura; Vengeance, a better version of Netflix’s Bodkin
TV: The Perfect Couple on Netflix, which I tore through while out sick last week; Shogun, which lives up to the hype and was the first truly great TV show I’ve seen in awhile; New Girl rewatch with Carlos for pure laughs
Books: I loved Another Marvelous Thing by Laurie Colwin, which I almost hugged at the end because I love her and her writing so much. I liked From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, You Are Here by David Nicholls, A Little Princess, Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand, and The Cliffs by J. Courtney Sullivan.
YouTube: I finally paid for premium to get rid of those ads! Josh Hartnett is still a heartthrob but now a mature one; this cover of “Apple”; Sabrina Carpenter’s Chicken Shop Date
Music: Nothing in particular but this is my always updated playlist of liked songs from the past year:
And one hard pass:
A few highly hyped books that I just couldn’t get into and didn’t finish: Long Island Compromise by Taffy Brodesser-Akner; The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley; and Fellowship Point by Alice Elliot Dark.
